Darren Lacey

Working as a Startup Legal Strategist, Darren supports DMZ startups with innovative legal solutions and support to help them achieve their goals. Darren has had a passion for the law since his first law class in Grade 11, leading him to pursue a Law & Business commerce undergraduate degree at Toronto Metroplitan University and then a JD at the Lincoln Alexander of Law. He spent his undergraduate summers working for the Ontario Public Service in various roles focused on policy, procedure and business development, and spent the final year of his BCom providing legal deliverables for a new startup through the TMU Law & Business Clinic.

Through these experiences, Darren developed an interest in the startup atmosphere, and realized the amount of resistance in the legal field to embrace innovative legal technology and solutions. As a Startup Legal Strategist, he has the opportunity to apply his insight from both public and private law perspectives to find forward-thinking legal solutions and support for DMZ startups.
