About Arya Dixit
Arya Dixit, 18, is the co-founder and CEO of WearWave. She and her co-founder developed this idea based on a business report that they wrote in the tenth grade. Now, WearWave is a social enterprise that develops radiation-free and customizable headphones for children – a concept that Arya has been passionate about since she began volunteering for the organization Canadians for Safe Technology 4 years ago. Alongside working on her start-up, Arya is currently studying Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo to build her technical knowledge, so that she can help WearWave progress even further.

What are your hopes for the next generation of women in tech?
In my experience, I have noticed how many young women feel intimidated by the tech field. I hope that in the future, my experience can help inspire the next generation of women so they feel excited to start using technology and begin integrating it with their other passions to make an impact.
What’s the greatest piece of advice you’ve ever received?
One should never shy away from controversy - especially when it comes to their startup. If even 1% of the entire population cares about your vision, that is still millions of individuals. Therefore, it is our job as social innovators and entrepreneurs to keep fighting for our mission.
