A tech incubator & global startup ecosystem.

DMZ is a tech incubator and global startup ecosystem that helps founders build high-impact ventures. We support entrepreneurship at every stage—from early ideation to international expansion. Our tailored programs, world-class resources and expansive network fuel bold ideas and drive global economic impact.

Toronto roots,
global reach.

DMZ was founded in 2010 at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), an institution known for innovation and boundary-pushing education. Though our journey began at TMU, DMZ now supports a diverse, global community of entrepreneurs and ecosystem builders—from students to seasoned founders.

Also operating under the TMU umbrella, DMZ Ventures (DMZV) invests in high-potential startups emerging from DMZ programs, providing capital and strategic support. Returns from startup investments go back into the university, advancing innovation and entrepreneurship.

Home of the Camel.

Startups love to chase unicorn status—flashy, billion-dollar valuations that prioritize quick wins and burn runway. But at DMZ, we bet on camels.

Not mythical or flashy, Camels are built to survive the desert. They store what they need, travel light, and stay steady under pressure. That's the kind of founder we back: one who builds with resilience and can weather any storm.

DMZ is the Home of the Camel—where startups are built to thrive, not just survive.
