She convened the largest tech and FI’s to enable Canadians to use debit on mobile devices. Partnering with the Heart & Stroke Foundation, she piloted using blockchain to incentivize Canadians to manage hypertension. Self has leveraged Interac platforms to incentivize Ontarians to be climate sustainable and brought together private and public sectors to develop a proof of concept, scaling it to a pilot providing consumers with data ownership.

What are your hopes for the next generation of women in tech?
That all of our collective work as Women in Tech, both past and present, paves the way for the next generation of women, so there is no need for a separate category, and where they are treated as equals and Leaders in Tech.

What’s the greatest piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Be the type of person that others would follow WILLINGLY – that’s what leaders are made of.
