Janet Bannister

Janet is the Managing Partner of Real Ventures, Canada’s preeminent early-stage venture capital firm. Janet is dedicated to helping entrepreneurs achieve their dreams. She has led investments in over a dozen companies and works actively with those founders. Janet is also very active in the Canadian tech ecosystem; she is the Co-Chair of C100 and on the Boards of Communitech in Waterloo and Vector Institute in Toronto.

She speaks frequently and mentors founders at Next Canada, the DMZ and One Eleven.

What are your hopes for the next generation of women in tech?
My hope for the next generation of women in tech is that they have the support, inspiration, and resources to pursue their dreams unconditionally.

What’s the greatest piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Don't get discouraged, get determined. Pursue what makes your heart come alive. There is no straight line to success.
