Newton Asare

Newton Asare is a digital innovation expert, entrepreneur, and experienced leader. Best known for his ability to use strategic creativity and technology to lead the digital transformation of businesses and industries. Newton has showcased great passion for originating digital solutions, building teams, and delivering value. Throughout his career years, Newton has been a significant contributor to the development of the Canadian InsurTech and FinTech sectors.

An experienced startup professional, Newton was the Co-founder and CEO of ClientDesk, an InsurTech startup that was acquired by Trufla Technologies, Co-founder and Director of Dream Insurance, and ClaimCast. During this time as a founder, he has participated in world-class incubator and accelerator programs such as the DMZ, DMZ Ventures, and the Plug and Play accelerator in the Bay area. Newton has also successfully raised angel, venture, and institutional funding for his startup ventures.

Newton is also currently serving as the Senior Manager, Global Innovation and Fintech Partnerships at Scotiabank, bringing a wealth of experience to help strengthen the bank’s digital footprint globally.

Newton is a Venture Partner at Dream Maker Ventures where he helped to build and launch “The Diversity Fund” and related diversity-focused initiatives.  Newton also helped to co-found the Black Innovation Fellowship through Dream Maker Ventures in partnership with Ryerson DMZ, coining the phrase “#ChangetheNarrative”. As an advisor, Newton provides support to TechStars Toronto and the Holt Accelerator programs.
