It’s with heavy hearts that DMZ mourns the loss of Nadir Mohamed; a visionary leader, devoted mentor and a true champion for innovation and entrepreneurship.
Few people have shaped Canada’s business and entrepreneurial community quite like Nadir. From his leadership at Rogers, to his influence on countless boards and initiatives, Nadir helped lay the groundwork for Canada’s innovation economy and the communities that power it.
DMZ is incredibly honoured to have had Nadir play such an important role in our journey. Through his leadership as the first Chair of our Advisory Council and later as Chair of DMZ Ventures, his guidance shaped the foundation of who we are today. He was instrumental in getting DMZ Ventures’ first fund off the ground, ensuring founders had access to critical capital alongside support.
As an immigrant himself, Nadir understood the challenges and possibilities that come with building something from the ground up in a new place. That perspective made him a powerful advocate for founders from all walks of life and he believed deeply in giving others the chance to succeed, just as he had.
His mark is all over our legacy, from the strategies that fueled our growth to the culture of going above and beyond and always putting our founders first.
“Nadir was a force for what it means to lead with both strength and humility. His leadership shaped more than companies; he shaped people, ideas and communities, said Abdullah Snobar, Executive Director of DMZ and CEO of DMZ Ventures. “For me, he was an incredible mentor, a dear friend and he will be deeply missed”.
His legacy lives on: in the ideas he rooted, the founders he pushed and the vision he held for Canadian innovation.
Thank you, Nadir.
