Introducing DMZ’s new cohort of Incubator startups

DMZ is thrilled to unveil its latest Incubator cohort of startups. Of nearly two hundred applications submitted from around the world, we’ve chosen the top six ventures joining us for the next 18 months and will graduate as the Incubator Fall 2024 cohort.

These founders hail from a range of industries, including health tech, moving and logistics, insurtech and AI, but are all driven by the same common goal — wanting to grow and scale their businesses.   

Our newest cohort will receive comprehensive support to execute their go-to-market strategy, acquire lighthouse customers, gain media exposure, explore global expansion, prepare for the next round of funding and much more. 

This competitive program is for venture-backable pre-seed and seed-stage startups with a full-time founder, early traction and proven product-market fit.

Introducing our Fall ‘24 Incubator cohort:

 

Approva is an all-in-one home loan solution that makes the home loan process simpler and faster by providing users with the best deal on their mortgages in real time.

Compass is a holistic mental health platform that provides users with personalized mental health resources based on their unique needs, wants and identities.

 

MoveMate provides on-demand moving services that aim to disrupt and integrate the archaic and fragmented moving and delivery ecosystem by building a more comprehensive, connected and tech-driven moving and delivery marketplace.

 

Robbie Restoration Technologies partners with insurance companies to save on unnecessary claim costs in water-related property and casualty claims. By providing data-driven analytic insights, adjusters and claims departments can be in complete control of the water restoration process.

 

Sensaiotech is an end-to-end fire risk assessment solution. Using AI-embedded devices and cutting-edge transmission technologies, their solution monitors and predicts where and when a wildfire will occur and flags at-risk areas up to 5 days earlier.

Vaultt is a collaborative information management and communications platform that uses a B2B SaaS model and multi-channel approach for family caregivers. Vault helps patients, families and caregivers securely organize, store and share vital information within their circle of care.

Introducing the DMZ’s newest Pre-Incubator cohort

Our newest Pre-Incubator cohort is in full swing. The DMZ is thrilled to present 16 tech companies hand-selected to take their businesses to the next level. For the next 16 weeks, the DMZ will help these founders validate their business idea, establish a minimum viable product and build a roadmap for implementation to launch their startup.

Our Pre-Incubator founders participate in peer-to-peer sessions, founder roundtables and expert-led workshops, receive 80+ membership benefits valued at $470,000+, have one-on-one support from our DMZ Program Leads and much more.

Introducing the DMZ’s newest Incubator cohort

The DMZ is proud to announce our newest Incubator cohort. Out of hundreds of applications from around the world, we’ve hand-selected 15 tech companies to join us for 18 months to help them execute their go-to-market strategy, acquire lighthouse customers, gain media exposure, explore global expansion, prepare for the next round of funding, and beyond. This competitive program is for venture-backable pre-seed and seed-stage startups that have a full-time founder, early traction, and proven product-market fit.

Startups accepted into the program receive up to $25,000 in grant funding, dedicated office space in the heart of downtown Toronto, 60+ hours of one-on-one mentorship time from in-house subject matter experts, support with fundraising strategies, and introductions to investors and customers.

New this cohort, six companies were selected to join the Incubator’s PropTech stream, giving them specialized industry programming developed in partnership with GroundBreak Ventures.

Basecamp 2022: Presenting this year’s winners

It’s been yet another successful summer for students in the Basecamp program. With so many incredible business ideas being conceptualized and brought to life by student entrepreneurs, it’s clear there’s no shortage of talent in this up-and-coming generation of startup founders. 

Open to the top high school and university students each summer, Basecamp is an intensive, 8-week tech incubation program helping youth develop, market and accelerate innovative solutions to growing social or economic gaps in society.

At the end of the 2022 program, participating teams had the opportunity to pitch their startup ideas to a panel of judges for the chance to take home one of seven grants of $5,000 to help startups launch into the next phase of their growth.

So, who are the winning teams of this year’s Basecamp program? 

Resource ASK – Khalil Bruce

Winner of the Black Founder Award – $5,000

Resource ASK is an organization that decentralizes Black entrepreneurs’ access to business resources. Through our interactive platform, Black entrepreneurs are able to receive curated business resources such as funding, capital, loans and networking opportunities that are relevant to them. 

seaSub – Kelley Liang, Edison Han, Sydney Choe
Winners of the High School Award & the Supply Ai Award – $10,000

seaSub is a free online Chrome extension which acts as an enhanced search engine for online shopping, helping users find the perfect product based on their personal preferences, stock/availability, and shipping times.

Docere – Luka Lamaj 

Winner of the Peer Choice Award & the University Team Award – $10,000

Docere is a video-call communication platform that eases interaction between doctors and patients via simple and accessible features such as 3D Body Graphs, maps of nearby doctors, scheduling calendars, and more.

Pinion – Arezoo Najafi

Winner of the Women Founder Award – $5,000

Pinion is a platform that provides coaching services to international students. The best coaches for students are those who have gone through the same path, and Pinion helps international students not feel lonely in their path.

 

NoTreble – Kiana Karimi
Winner of the Women Founder Award – $5,000

NoTreble is a sound recognition and machine-enabled software that helps instrument learners practice more efficiently, decreasing their tendency to practice mistakes over and over again. It can listen and analyze student playing and give instantaneous instructions on how to avoid practicing mistakes. It also gives practice updates and results to the student’s teacher. This way, students can improve faster with fewer costs and greater ease of mind!
